Captain's Log

With two small kids my time for outdoor adventure has diminished. However I'm now trying to find activities that will suit my new lifestyle. This blog will follow my outdoor pursuits in general and this year will focus a lot on my experimentation with sailing.

Skiing with Jack for the first time

Fun day on the slopes with dad and Jack

With Jack closing in on three in March it was time to take him skiing for the first time. Sir Sam's ski area is close to the cottage so we headed there on Christmas Eve day with the family.

Jack was anxious to get his skis on and could walk around in his ski boots better then I had anticipated. After finding some rental skis we were ready to go.

Sir Sam's is great for beginners since it has a little tow rope for them to play on the bunny hill. Kids under 6 ski free and adults just looking to teach their small kids can buy a ticket for the tow rope only for $10.

All told he did pretty well. He skied between my legs and then ventured even further with Anke by skiing on his own for about 50 meters. All in all we had a fun day and it was nice to get him out there.

Next up will be ski school for him later this year.

Looks like you guys had a great time!
