Getting outside!

Family beach trip '08 - Litchfield, SC

  • Posted on August 24, 2008 at 12:59 PM

Angel and Emily after catching a few together

We finally managed to get the mom's to meet and it was at the beach in South Carolina!

Litchfield is a small sleepy town on the South Carolina coast located between Myrtle Beach (to the north) and Georgetown (to the south). It's a great place for a family retreat and to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf (albiet small) while avoiding the more hectic and busy beach experience of Myrtle Beach.

We had temperatures that averaged 100 degrees with a light sprinkle almost every afternoon. The beach is clean and safe. When the tide is out there must be 150 feet of very flat exposed hard sand which was perfect for throwing the football, building sand castles, and flying the kite.

We rented a four bedroom beach house one road in from the beach for about USD$2200 (all in) and had nine people in our crew. It couldn't have turned out any better. Check out Dunes Realty

The surf is small but great for kids and working the old muscles that we city slickers forgot we had! There is a great surf shop called Surf the Earth and it's just south of Litchfield about five minutes. The owner is Scott and he's cool. Check his place out at Surf the Earth

We took lots of pics but the photos are on Angel's camera and she's looking for the patch cord!!! More to come!

Surf's up!
