Destined for Hollywood
Think you can outsmart, outlast and outplay? Are you made for reality TV? Well this may be your chance. The Discovery Channel is actively searching for participants for The Alaskan Experience, a reality TV show. This is the show's second season of pitting groups of adventurous folk against the Alaskan wilderness. In the first season four groups of two or three people were given a remote base camp in the Alaskan wilderness. One was a log cabin and the rest were less luxurious. From this base they were supposed to survive for three months while the cameras captured their struggles and triumphs and, of course, the odd fight and back stabbing between cabin mates. I never caught an episode, but it sounds interesting.
Now they're looking for a second crew. Here's a direct quote from the show's casting call:
"The Challenge - if you dare to accept it - is to join a band of fellow exploreres and journey through some of the harshest climates and roughest terrains in the world: the Alaskan wilderness. Both an epic quest and the ultimate test of courage, this amazing journey will test its participants in ways they never thought possible and, in the process, allow them to experiene the raw beauty of nature and see the world like they never have before."
Sounds like fun...maybe. I have always wanted to visit Alaska and there is the potential I will be recognized as the TV star that I could be if only I were given a chance. But then the shooting starts in September and I have gear reviews and article deadlines throughout the fall. Too bad.
