“08_03_30 Skiing Nakiska (again)”

We went skiing to Nakiska again. This time we went there to ski and say good bye to the skiing season. Limin really likes Nakiska, I like it too. It was Nakiska where I worked for the Olympic Committee as a venue technical coordinator. I have lots of great memories from that period of my life. Almost everyday I commuted from Calgary, if I didn’t I stayed in there since sometimes we worked long hours. It was so different being there while there were no people at all. I had my own ATV (before snow fall) and snowmobile later. I used to eat my lunches sitting at the top of the mountain marveling views…what a life it was but it is not that I wanted to write about.

So here we were again skiing Nakiska. Well, they were skiing and I was hiking it. This time I almost made it to the top. Had I had more time I would have made it to the top for sure. It is end of March and it is beginning of spring skiing there. In the afternoon snow has gotten pretty wet and heavy at the bottom while it was still pretty powdery at the top. Well, it was good few degrees colder up there as well. We had great day and as always the crew was sound asleep while I had to drive back to Calgary. Lucky for us Calgarians that we have our playground so close, in short 45 minutes we were back home. In couple of months I am planning to come back to Nakiska and hike it up again but this time we will go all the way to the top of Mount Allen. Just to avoid confusion let me explain – Nakiska that is the name of a Ski Resort located on Mount Allen. Well, that was the highlight of our last weekend.
