Edit textIce climbing harnesses are a little different from rock harnesses in that they are usually have adjustable leg loops. This allows for the climber to layer clothing under the harness according to the weather.
The best design is a simple one as it can get cumbersome to manage when fully dressed and when wearing gloves. Accessive padding is not essential since winter clothing provides some comfort and the padding will only absorb water.
Choose an ice climbing harness with large gear loops and belay/rappel loop.
