Josiah's Bay, British Virgin Islands
Josiah's Bay is a beautiful surf beach on the north side of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.
It is an easy drive in a rental car or a cab ride from any point on the island. We paid $21 for three people from Road Town. If you are taking a cab remember to ask your cab driver to come back for you at a certain time (ours was more then willing) since you cannot flag down a cab from this beach when you are ready to leave.
A visit to Josiah's Bay can be done as a day trip from Virgin Gorda with a 30 minute ferry ride (both directions) and a 20 minute cab ride.
You can rent boards from a small hut right at the beach. However the selection is very limited. There was only one longboard for rent. Price was $10 an hour or $5 flat rate for a boogie board. Prices might be higher in peak season.
The beach is beautiful and there are several covered palapas to get some shade and you can rent chairs or loungers if you wish.
There is also a small restaurant and bar for a nice Carib beer at the end of your surf.
This is a true beach break with few rocks and is good for beginners and experts alike depending on the conditions.
