Panorama Mountain Resort
Located about a 2 1/2 hour drive south west of Calgary, Alberta, Canada is the Panorama Mountain Resort.
Boasting 4,000 feet of vertical drop Panorama is one of the highest in North America. Base elevation is 3,800 feet with the summit being at 7,800 feet.
Average snowfall is 188 inches but the only drawback to Panorama is sometimes a lack of full coverage.
The resort has a good mixture of beginner, intermediate and expert runs for with the Taynton Bowl being the place to go for adventuresome skiers willing to do a little bit of hiking to experience some great double black diamond runs. If snow is light in a given year then this area has a lot of exposed rocks and stumps.
Infrastructure is good with lots of high-speed lifts and moderate to expensive accommodation. Skiers and snowboarders will enjoy this big mountain. For those with a little bit more money to burn RK Heli-ski is located right on site.
In the summer Panorama is home to fantastic mountain biking, white water rafting, and Greywolf Golf Course which was rated one of the 10 best in Canada by Golf Digest in 2005.
