Santispac Beach, Baja California

The east coast of Baja California is lined with beautiful white sand beaches along the calm shore of the Sea of Cortez, just south of Mulege. Santispac beach is the first of these great beaches you come to and is covered with incredible straw huts and palapas that have been built up over the years, by mostly Canadian and American snowbirds, to look more like homes.

There is a little bar and restaurant at the north end of the hard-packed beach that has been around for a long, long time. The beach and bay is surrounded by step hillsides and mangroves.

You can pull up to the water’s edge with your vehicle and rent a palapa for $5/night.

As you drive further south you pass many more secluded beaches like Santispac but the bar, restaurant and fresh clams that can be dug up in the bay, along with the great people have made it home make this beach worth the stop.
