Yosemite National Park is one of the first wilderness parks ever created in the United States. It covers nearly 1,200 square miles where you will find some of the most stunning ancient giant sequoias lots of wilderness area and some beautiful waterfalls.

You can visit Yosemite all through the year although some areas of the park become inaccessible by car from approximately November through May because of snow. You can drive your car into and around Yosemite, although some areas are best seen and accessed by shuttle bus.

You do not need a reservation to enter Yosemite, although reservations are strongly encouraged for camping or lodging.

Yosemite is approximately 4-5 hours drive from San Francisco International (SFO). The route is as follows: Highway 580 east to Highway 205 east to Highway 120 east to Yosemite.

If you are looking for alternate transportation rather then via car, Amtrak provides a combination of train and bus service to Yosemite Valley.

Obviously there is a lot to do in Yosemite. You can explore the park by hiking it or renting a bike. There is also the opportunity to interact with a park ranger to learn about Yosemite in more detail. Another option is to see the park by taking a bus tour.

Yosemite is obviously famous for its world class rock climbing routes including the famous El Capitan and The Nose.
